Is it a surprise to industries that they are about to get hit with major slowdowns and net losses this year, or did they prepare for the inevitable economic slowdown that was staring us all in the pocketbook last year or even earlier?
Restaurants, clothing stores, the auto industry, travel and many other luxuries of life were bound to take the second beating financially with the consumer being the first from higher fuel and food prices.
I heard many a year ago deny this would happen really believing even in a slowdown or a rise in oil prices it would be temporary and eventually everything goes back to normal so we can get back to our luxury life spending habits but this time there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow in sight, this time the rainbow is dry and dry for longer then anyone would like it, especially those who enjoy the luxuries life has to offer in a country as ours.
