If you study mythology or the Ancient Roman religion the word Vulcan would be recognized as the God of beneficial and hindering fire with temples and statues erected throughout history in his honour.
If you’re a science fiction follower of Star Trek you would relate the name Vulcan to a very intelligent alien species that finds all humans and much of what they do illogical.
If you work in many industries, especially the tire making industry that need rubber to produce a product you would be familiar with the name Vulcan but not as a noun but a verb called “vulcanization”. No it’s not assimilating person into an alien form but assimilating a natural product into something at the time of creation seemed…logical. Vulcanization is the process of curing rubber, from the rubber tree plant, involving high heat while adding sulphur and other curative chemicals to extend the life of rubber to keep it from cracking or melting, turning it into a non decamping material, (tires, among other products) that end up in landfills polluting our environment with no end of life in sight. more
